CHAIR OF GOVERNORS
About Me

I have been in education for 25 years, working as a teacher, SENDCo, senior leader and headteacher before setting up my own business in 2021. I now provide professional development support to schools, trusts and colleges, and have experience of working across the full age range from 3-25 years.
My work often has a SEND focus, and I am particularly interested in helping schools and colleges develop and strengthen their SEND capability - I am passionate about promoting inclusion and supporting diverse learning needs.
I have served on the governing body of a three-form entry primary school in Bradford since 2021.
What does a Chair of governors do?
There are 4 main responsibilities
Leading effective governance
Building the team.
Relationship with the CEO and college principal.
Improving the college.
What does this mean?
The chair ensures that the governing body sets a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction for the college.
The chair works with the CEO and college principal to promote and maintain high standards of educational achievement, building a strong team of governors to support, challenge and hold leaders to account for the performance of the college and its students and the performance management of the team. The chair ensures oversight of the financial performance of the college and effective use of the college’s resources.
